Every Christmas for the past 15 years or more my family has engaged in the seasonal sport of satsuma bowls. This is a keenly fought contest, loosely based on lawn bowls, the rules of which have been progressively developed and fine tuned. I have to confess to making the assumption the same would be happening up and down the land each winter when satsumas and clemantines become available in the shops. Google says not - apparently a satsuma bowl is an Japanese decorative antique!

There was a clear need to have satsuma bowls recognised as an official sport. To achieve this I have set out the rules of the sport as well as a bit of background information such as how to choose the ideal satsuma bowl, jack selection and scoring systems.

Wireless on Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 with Fedora Core 3 (FC3) Linux

It took me the best part of 6 months to sort this out and I am posting this here in the hope it might help others...

I was happily using the integrated wireless on my Toshiba Satellite Pro with Redhat 9 and Fedora Core 1 (FC1) but on upgrading to Fedora Core 2 (FC2) and also FC3 the wireless card would not work. I tried all sorts of things but to no avail. I googled around and wasted hours, probably days on this and had resolved myself to using FC1 and struggling without my USB stick, wireless and sound.

This week I thought I'd give it a final go and thanks to greeners in this thread http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2550 there was the answer

OK - so this isn't rocket science but when I made this null modem they were selling in the shops for something like £12 or so. You can get them now for around £3 or £4 but if you fancy making your own they are quite easy.
