Nest box cams
I'm really excitied because I have just put up a nest box cam......but I'm also worried that I might not get any residents!
It's a home made box with a cheap wireless security camera in (£30) with a little monitor. The camera unit is quite big, so the box is about 17 inches high to accomodate it.
Has anyone else got one?
Unfortunately it's been up a week (day 8 now) and still no visitors!
I have the little monitor on whenever I'm in here, and can connect it to the TV video to record......if I get visitors.
I am looking into linking it to the computer (probably via a TV card or video card) to capture still shots which I'll be able to post online, but I don't envisage being able to post video clips- it uses an awful lot of space.
You can get fantastic results for specifically designed cards/software. but at this stage I'm going for cheap and cheerful.
There are alot of nest box cam websites which you can find if you do a search for "nest box cam" or "bird box cam" or "bluetit cam" or "great tit cam"
First the good news!
I have spotted some wildlife on my starling nest cam! :D
Bad news: it's just a spider that's too close to be in focus
lol
ps and the great tits are checking out a different (non camera) box!

That sounds great. Sounds like a cheaper option than some of the commercial nestbox cams I have seen. If you have any photos or indeed a link to the video please post them here.
Thanks.
Matt
