glow worms
I am doing BSc Joint Honours Biology and Geography degree disssertation based in Biology, on the habitats and populations of Lampyris noctiluca on the cliffs of the Gower coast, South Wales. I am starting my data collection and research this summer after I have finished my 2nd year exams. I am hoping to carry out around 10 night visits and day surveys of the area, starting around Mon 18th June, to around Sun 8th July. If you recommend any reading, literature or any other such information that you feel may be of use to me I would be very grateful, and in return, if it would be useful to you, I am willing to fill in and send you your survey forms that are provided on the website, based on my visits.

Hello Kathyrn,
You ought to conatct Robin Scagell who maintains the glow worm web page now www.glowworms.org.uk
There is a good little book available written by John Tyler and this is available online also via Robin's site at http://website.lineone.net/~galaxypix/Tylerbookpt1.html

glow worms
we've searched the net, and cannot find an answer
can you help?
on the farmtrack outside our house in norfolk, near wymondham, we spotted a phosphorescent worm. viewed by torchlight, it was a very thin, long red worm; not a regular earth worm although in a place where an earthworm might well be. viewed beneath a slightly moonlit sky, it looked like a series of glowing beads. what was it?

It's many years since I saw a glow worm but I am now living in the Oxforshire countryside so am looking forward to going glow worming this year. I will also try to get some decent photos of them. Unfortunately I am unable to make any of the events listed on Robin's site.

I´m about to make a firefly project here, in Portugal.
It seems that the glow worm uk is one of the best sites that I ever saw.
Specially the online version of glow worm book by John Tyler that is available there. Excellent work!
It´s great to me to know, that english people like so much these wonderfull beetles: a lot of people reports the presence of glow worms by a lot of media means. Here, people are curious but there almost none information about it.
L. noctiluca are present here, near home, and even if I already saw other species, the glow worms are special for me.
Best wishes & good luck,
Gon栬o Appleton F.
